A beautiful tango
Geraldine Rojas and Javier Rodriguez dance to Agustín Bardi’s Gallo Ciego, played here by Osvaldo Pugliese’s orchestra.
Christmas Exhibition at the Ingleby Gallery
I have an exhibition coming up shortly in a beautiful, picturesque gallery in Ingleby, near Melbourne, Derbyshire. The 18th century brick building housing the gallery was originally a shire horse stable, part of one of the working farms on Sir Francis Burdett’s Foremarke Estate. It retains many of its original features, hayrack and harness pegs. Ingleby itself is a small hamlet with some of the cottages dating back to the 16th century.
The preview is on 4 December, from noon to 4.00 p.m. and the exhibition runs until 18 December. The gallery owner is Gill Watson, tel: 0133 286 5995. Website www.ingleby-gallery.co.uk.

Sheffield Street Art
Graffiti, or street art, can enliven our cities. Sheffield-based Phlegm has a very recognisable style. His background as a cartoonist is evident in his work, which is much more illustrative than the more common letter- or text-based graffiti.
He says, “I love to get run-down urban spaces and factories and play with the space. It’s such an immediate way to get your picture on the wall. A painting in the street becomes part of the city’s architecture, influenced by what’s around it…”
